Arbeit an der Zeit – Künstlerische Forschung im zeitgenössischen Musiktheater. Gespräch mit Daniel Kötter

Abstract

The article is devoted to the practices and aesthetics of artistic research in contemporary music theater. It will focus on the research and experiment-based works of the artist duo Daniel Kötter and Hannes Seidl. Their interdisciplinary projects reflect on the one hand the artistic conditions of the (music) theater itself, on the other hand the position of art within social contexts. In this way they set orders of knowledge in motion. The central part of the article is a conversation with Kötter about Artistic Research as a "work on time" within the time-based arts as well as forms of collaboration, intermediality, composition and perception.
