Author Guidelines

As an interdisciplinary forum Mirrors & Mosaics welcomes a broad range of contribution types: from essays, to scientific reviews of books, articles and other media publications, all the way to artistic concepts and further miscellaneous contributions. Contributions with various approaches, methods, and voices are to be united in this journal, akin to a kaleidoscope. 

The deadline for submissions is April 1st or October 1st for each year.

Stylesheet for your contribution to the journal “Mirrors & Mosaics”

  • Length of the contribution: max. 60,000 characters (including spaces)
  • Abstract: max. 250 characters (including spaces)
  • 5 keywords in the language of the article
  • Biographical note (fields of study and research interests or focus)

Images made by others are omitted for copyright reasons; reference should be made to these in the text or in the footnote. Own images may be used.

Texts are to be written in Times New Roman 12-point, 1.15 line spacing, footnotes in Times New Roman 10, single line spacing.

An Arabic numeral count is used for chapter numbering based on the format templates of Microsoft Word.

Short hyphens (-) and long dashes (-) are used. Hyphens do not have a space before and after them. Dashes have a space before and after them. Dashes for a range of page or year numbers
do not have a space before and after them.

The contributions should be written in gender-sensitive and inclusive language.

Only mark paragraphs with a blank line. Do not enter any other fixed separations or line breaks.

  • Shorter quotations or individually quoted words in quotation marks (“...”)
  • Longer quotations indented.
  • Single quotation marks for quotations within quotations (‘...’)
  • Emphasis in the text only using italics (e.g. highlighting technical terms).
  • Footnote marks are superscript numbers without brackets. They are placed after the closing punctuation mark if the footnote refers to the whole sentence or immediately after the word or group of words to which the footnote refers (i.e. before the comma).

 

The journal uses the Chicago-Style (A) for citations:

In footnotes: Name, Title (Publisher, Year), Page number(s).

In the bibliography: Last name, First name. Title. Publisher. Year.

  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
